AGRICULTURE INFORMATION: AWARENESS AND USAGE BY THE FARMERS OF COIMBATORE DISTRICT, TAMILNADU

Abstract


This paper is an attempt to study the farmers awareness  and use of agriculture information  in agriculture related   activities   such  as  land preparation,  improved  varieties,  fertilizer,  water  management,   weed  management,   pest control, harvesting techniques, storage procedure and marketing etc., The lists of  farmers actively involved in farming  from the selected three blocks from Coimbatore district were collected and 150 respondents  were selected by simple random sampling method. The study shows that the personal variables of farmers has played a major role for  determining the information awareness and effective utilization of information in their farming activities
